FACTORIZATION OF ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSIONS EXPRESSIBLE AS A PERFECT SQUARE
In order to factorize algebraic expressions expressible as a perfect square, we use the following expressions.
(i) \( a^2+2ab+b^2 = (a+b)^2 =(a+b)(a+b) \)
\( x^2-8x+16 = x^2+2x*x*4+4^ 2 \) \( (x + 4)^2 = (x+4)(x+4) \)(ii) \( a^2 – 2ab + b^2 \) = \( (a – b)^2 = (a -b)(a – b) \)
\( a^2 -4a+1 \) = \( (2a)^2 -2*2a*1+(1)^2 \)
= \( (2a – 1)^2 \)
= \( (2a-1) (2a-1) \)
