NEET Physics Notes Alternating Current-Series AC Circuits
Series AC Circuits
Series AC Circuits
Some of the series AC circuits are given below
- Series L-R Circuit
The potential difference across a resistance in AC is in phase with current and it leads in phase by 90° with current across the inductor.
- Series R-C Circuit
Potential difference across a capacitor in AC lags in phase by 90° with the current in the circuit.
- Series L-C Circuit
if and I0 becomes infinity. This condition is termed as the resonant condition and this frequency is termed as natural frequency of the circuit.
- Series L-C-R Circuit
i:e the natural frequency of the circuit is equal to the applied frequency, then the circuit is said to be in resonance.
At resonance, the current in the circuit is maximum and the impedance is minimum.
At resonance frequency
Quality Factor
or is termed as the Quality factor of the circuit. It determines the sharpness of resonance. Higher the value of Q, sharper is the resonance.
