In HTML, uniform grid of columns and rows are created. But sometimes, we need some of the cells to be combined, and for this purpose, rowspan and colspan attributes are used. The colspan attribute allows the user to stretch a cell to span multiple columns (merge two or more columns).
On the other hand, rowspan attribute is used to span multiple rows (merge two or more rows). Attributes, colspan (how many across) and rowspan (how many down) indicate, how many columns or rows, a cell should take up.
