Look at your surroundings.Make a list of uses that the land in your neighbourhood is being put to.
Answer:
Land in our neighbourhood is being used in various ways :

  1. Some pieces of land are used for agriculture.
  2. Some pieces of land are used for making buildings, roads etc..
  3. On some lands, big schools and parks are developed.
  4. Some other pieces of lands are used for making hospitals, playgrounds,Temples,Mosques,Churches,etc.

Question 2.
Where does the water you use in your home and school come from? Make a list of different uses of water in our daily life. Have you seen anyone wasting water? How?
Answer:
(1) The water we use in our home and school comes from the water treatment plants which receive it from rivers for cleaning. Rivers get water from rain.

(2) Following are the different uses of water in daily life :
(a) For drinking.
(b) For washing clothes, utensils, vehicles, etc.
(c) For bathing and cooking food.
(d) For watering garden plants and irrigating crops.
Yes. I have seen females at municipality taps collecting water. Very often they fight with each other and the water overflows from the bucket about which they are least bothered. In such cases the people standing in queue also suffer.

Question 3.
Observe the sky while coming to school. Make a note whether the day is cloudy, rainy, sunny, foggy, etc.

Talk to some elderly person in your neighbourhood and collect information about
(1) The trees in his/her neighbourhood when he/she was your age.

Boys – Playing cards, hide and seek, pithhoo.Girls – Gudde, Gudiya Ki Shaadi, Stapu, gitti.

(3) His/Her favourite fruit at your age.

(4) How did they make themselves comfortable during hot summers and cold winters ?
Answer:
During summers – Using hand fans, bathing in pond or river, drinking water from earthen pots (matkas or surahi).
During winters – Covering body with blankets, sitting in the sun, warming hands from angithi, sitting around the fire in groups.

(5) Display your answers on a wall/ bulletin board.

Answer:
Lithosphere: The lithosphere is the solid crust or the hard top layer of the earth, made up of rocks and minerals.

(6) Which are the two major components of the biotic environment?
Answer:
Plants and animals are the two major components of biotic environment.

(7) What is the biosphere?
Answer:
Biosphere: Plants and animals found in the narrow strip at the junction of lithosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere together make a biosphere.
