Answer:
Earlier Sahara must have been a green and fertile region. But excessive and intensive use of land for cultivation, large-scale deforestation, excessive pollution of land, air, and water, and soil erosion could have led to the conversion of land into a desert. Gradually the green flourishing region must have converted into yellow barren land.

(1) There is scanty vegetation in the deserts.
Answer:
The elimination of the deserts is either very hot and dry or very cold and dry. Both conditions are not favourable for the growth of vegetation. Besides this, there is poor rainfall in the deserts. Due to lack of sufficient water, deserts usually have scanty vegetation.

(2) People of the Sahara desert wear heavy robes.
Answer:
People of the Sahara deserts wear heavy robes in order to protect themselves from dust storms and hot winds.
