Solution 1(a):
The lime when added to water gives a suspension of calcium hydroxide and gives a milky colour.

Solution 1(b):
The water in the bag evaporates due to sunlight. The sunlight heats the water and turns it into water vapour.

The carbon dioxide gas produced by blowing air turns the clear liquid into a white milky colour.

Plants respire through the small pores on their leaves called stomata. They exchange gases with the help of stomata.

No, the balloon is not a living organism. The balloon becomes big due to the gas filled inside it by blowing.

When we experience pain during walking, the brain sends messages to see what is hurting us below the feet. Then, we come to know that a spine or a thorn-like substance is hurting us.

During winter, the temperature is very low and our body cannot resist the outside temperature; so, to avoid cold, we wear woolen clothes as they are very thick and are a bad conductor of heat.

Yes, the animals do feel pain when bitten by a spine. They react to it by various means like thrusting the foot into the ground, by making horrible sounds in case of some animals.

No, the wall does not feel any emotions if we do anything to it because it is a non-living thing.

No, bicycle cannot reproduce as it is a non-living thing.

The characters of living organisms are nutrition, growth, movement, response to stimuli, respiration, excretion, reproduction and death.

Solution 1(d):
The cloud moving in the sky is a non-living thing. Due to wind, the clouds move from one place to another.

  1. The similarities between fish and ship is that both need water to travel but the dissimilarity is that fish is living whereas ship is nonliving.
  2. Elephant and Earthmovers dig Earth which is a similarity but the difference is elephant is living whereas Earthmovers are nonliving.
  3. The Similarities between train and humans is that both can run. But the dissimilarity is human is living but trains are non living.
  4. Birds and aeroplane fly in air but the difference is that bird is living and aeroplane is non living.
