Little Krishna
Young Krishna had great wisdom bestowed upon him by Lord Vishnu despite being small and kind. Krishna stayed in Vrindavan at the time. In order to appease Indra, the ferocious lord of clouds and rain, the locals made offerings to him every year. Krishna understood that Indra was egotistical and insincere and that he was, therefore, unworthy of respect.
Krishna spoke to the crowd, trying to make Indra learn his lesson. “Indra is a bully we don’t have to obey. Worship Govardhan, our sustaining mountain, as it makes more sense. Let’s honor the generous Govardhan, who freely gives us access to her verdant forests and begs the clouds to shower us. The populace agreed with Krishna’s resolution.

Unseen Passage With Questions For Class 5 – 3
The Miserable Lizard
Frog and Lizard used to sit upright like dogs back then. Then came the day that forever altered Lizard’s situation. They were strolling along a sand-filled path close to their swamp. They noticed a lush green field with a crystal-clear blue pond as they rounded a bend. They yearned to pay them a visit, but a strong wooden fence stood in their way.
Frog said longingly, “I’d sure love a swim in that sweet water.”
Lizard yearned, “I’d sure love to catch some fine insects there.”
The two moved closer to the fence, which appeared to be getting taller and more menacing with each step. The fact that the fence boards were buried deeply in the ground and fit together tightly made matters worse. They didn’t see any room to crawl under or climb over.
By that annoying fence, Frog and Lizard were contemplating how to cross to the other side while sitting up straight like dogs. Frog then noticed a small crevice close to the ground. He declared, “I’m going to squeeze myself through.” He pushed, wriggled, and squirmed until he emerged from the other side.
Lizard, it’s your turn, Frog yelled. Lizard then scampered to the crevice. In an effort to pass, he pushed and shoved. He pushed so forcefully that a fence board fell, crushing him. Class 5 CBSE Unseen Passage – 5
The Setter Of Records
My brother Alex is regarded as a trustworthy, wise, and considerate individual. In light of things like what he’s doing right now, I say “generally.”
You’ll understand if you picture this. What is Nate doing while I sit here playing a video game and texting half my friends—two perfectly acceptable things to be doing for entertainment? Alex is over there, batting a rubber ball that is strung together by an elastic string with a wooden paddle as he softly counts to himself 79, 80, 81, and 82. This makes no sense.
It’s behaviour, isn’t it?
You might believe that I’m being unfair to Alex.
Sometimes, brothers can be kind to one another. Instead, I’m being understanding. You see, the challenge last time—and I’m talking about just a few weeks ago—was standing on his head for a minute. This time, however, it’s paddleball batting.
He set up a timer on the rug and continued as long as he could. He had to read it upside down, of course, but I imagine he got better at it over time. Perhaps he ought to have turned the timer around as well.
I have to admit, I’m a little worried. What if he is exposed to alligator wrestling by one of his silly friends? Or what if he is persuaded to start tightrope walking between buildings? I’ll tell you what, these concepts aren’t that crazy for Alex!
Please Respond To The Following Questions:
1. Nate enjoys amusing himself by…
(a) fight off alligators.
(b) Take up table tennis.
(c) video games.
(d) Congratulate his brother.
2. What is another word for lenient?
(a) Easygoing
(b) Critical
(c) Loving
(d) Harsh
3. How does Nate make a point about his brother’s behaviour by using exaggeration?
4. Think of Nate being described by Alex. How might the narrative change?
Answers:
1. (c) video games
2. (a) Easygoing
3. Nate finds Alex’s actions strange. But he has no plans to start tightrope walking or alligator wrestling.
4. Alex teases Nate about his time wastage while playing video games and texting his friends.
